The Wishing Shelf Book Awards 2022

The Wishing Shelf Book Awards are a non-profit organisation set up by an independent author to recognise and promote excellent independent published authors. Like most book awards, it has specialist categories and Mooge the Prehistoric Genius was entered into the 9-12 yr old category in 2022. For the children’s categories, judging is initially undertaken by several schools, with teachers supporting their children to select their favourites. Books receiving a threshold score make it through to the finals, where an elite group of children readers decide the winners based on editing, writing style, content and book cover. A total of 15 elite readers awarded Mooge a five star rating and a total score of 30/35. Not quite enough for a winners medal but not a bad endorsement, with all 15 saying they thought the author understood the readership and what they wanted.
